| Sumario: | In La expresión americana, José Lezama Lima represents a being that
has his own characteristics that make him different from any other since his
determining features have been created by menas of the geographical, historical and
cultural context. The difficult element to undestand Lezama is the cognostive
complexity required in order to decodify his ideas. The text under study falls into this
category as, paraphrasing Irlemar Chiampi, complexity in Lezama is not an accident
but a strategy to estimulate the reading of the content. In this way, we try to approach
Lezama to deconstruct his concepts and metaphors. We will do a performative
reading of La expresión americana in the style of Schelling, where nature forms and
creates the American being: it provides life, meaning and an answer to the history of
America.
