Sumario:According to Jose Romera Castillo, from 1975 to our days, an important number of intimate diaries, with differences in quality and modality, have been published in Spain. I am specifically interested in the condition of “diversity” of these writings to analyze Carmen Martin Gaite’s diaries (1925-2000) published in 2001 and 2005, with the name Cuadernos de todo and Visión de Nueva York. These collections of intimate writings, published after her death, reassure her poetic, implicit in her novels and developed in her research books. The complex relationship between literature and life, always present in her production, is even more obvious in these texts, revealing the continuity and consistency of her work during all her life.
