| Sumario: | Eduarda Mansilla, in the 19th century, and Sara Gallardo, in the 20th, were female authors that broke the preconceptions of social class and gender by which they were expected to live in their societies; without open confrontation, they managed to avoid boundaries: they were pioneers in some literary genres, styles, resources and themes; both highly regarded by most of their contemporary colleagues and readers but, later, forgotten by the Academy, the editorial industry, the critics and, thus, the public. The last decade has witnessed an unprecedented rescue of the written work of both authors with the aim of repositioning them in the corpus of classic Argentine writers, to widen the cannon and help settle a more plural and less oblivious Academy. The purpose of this paper is to show the hard rescue work of forgotten, unpublished or lost literary pieces written by these two authors, done by other writers, critics, and research teams, groups which I have been part of, or with whom I am in close contact. From the addition of all these efforts arose all the academic work nets that brought about recent publications about these authors and their literature, as well as popular, specialized and critical editions of their work. |
