Sumario:Otas de Roma and the Cuento de una santa enperatrís are two of the tales of the manuscript h-I-13 of El Escorial; due to their structure and their content, both can be considered hagiographical romances. Their protagonists are extremely beautiful queens who are forced to go through a series of adverse incidents that threaten their chastity. They manage to preserve it, however, thanks to the concurrence of their virtue, magic, miracle and the help of God and the Virgin. The aim of this study is to examine the way in which supernatural and wonderful elements are integrated in these romances, where the two orders tend to become contaminated and confused. This particular mixture is undoubtedly one of the aspects of the hybridity and cross-fertilization between hagiography and adventure novel that takes place in the codex, and in a special way in these two stories.
