Sumario:Braced frames represent a convenient alternative for earthquake-resistant constructions. This structural type has a large lateral stiffness and an adequate energy dissipation capacity. National and international design codes include the braced frames as structural system. In Argentina, concentrically braced frames are mainly used for industrial constructions, and less frequently for residential buildings. Braces are the main components of the system, which control the overallresponse of the structure. For this reason is very important to investigate the behavior and response of the different type of braces. Particularly, tubular braces filled with concrete present several advantages, however they are not explicitly considered in the Argentinean code, INPRES-CIRSOC 103, IV. More research is required to improve the analysis and design of this structures. The main objective of this project is to implement and improve the analysis procedures and structural and architectural design criteria for frames braced with steel tubes filled with concrete in order to promote the use of this structural system and to reduce the seismic risk in the region.
