Sumario:Snow avalanches are an extremely complex events, with innumerable parameters and physical and topographic variables that play from the moment it is activated until it stops. It becomes essential to protect routes and settlements of tourist areas and, above all, human lives. The topographic characteristics of the start area of an avalanche are important in determining the frequency of the avalanche. The knowledge of this frequency is decisive for the procedure of avalanche risk mapping. The research seeks to study snow avalanches using geographic information systems and numerical simulation models to better understand the dynamics (height of snow flow, range and impact pressure) and the different defenses in the field.
