Sumario: | Breast cancer (CM) is a disease with more than 1.6 million new cases and 450,000 annual deaths worldwide, it is also the leading cause of cancer death in the female population. The statistics of Argentina indicate around 2000 new cases per year and an annual mortality of 6000 people. Heat Shock Proteins (HSPs) belong to an evolutionarily conserved gene family that includes 95 members capable of synthesizing proteins. HSPs are involved in the quality control of proteins, degradation pathways and regulation of apoptosis. Systems related to HSPs can be disturbed during oncogenesis allowing malignant transformation and / or facilitating rapid somatic evolution; HSPs have been studied in a wide variety of cancers, presenting different pro-tumoral actions (stimulating tumor growth and metastasis) and anti-tumor. Currently they are emerging as molecular targets in cancer therapy due to the diversity of functions they fulfill in cancer cells. In the present study we will evaluate the genomic status of HSPs, for this we will take into account the variants of the number of copies (CNV) and the mutational profile. CNVs are DNA segments larger than 1 kilobase that diverge against a reference genome. Typically, CNVs are regions of amplification or elimination with influence on the expression of related genes. Therefore we will evaluate the effects on the expression of the HSPs genes mediated by the genomic changes that occur in them. Then we will go to the biological and clinical implications that cause these modifications. |
