Sumario: | Contemporary changes in education give rise to different opinions regarding where these institutions should be placed within the city: whether they should be built as part of the urban network or isolated, whether they should be urban or suburban, whether they should have a strong symbolism or be integrated to the metropolitan anonymity. Thus it is important to argue the concepts of integration and isolation that support the relationship between academic and real life places in the city. The aim of this study is analyse educational buildings placed inside the city network, university campus or university city from the Buenos Aires university campus. Firstly, some Latin American cases are revised so as to make comparisons. Then, the project promoted by the Associationof Architects at the end of the 30s is examined. And finally, we study the unfinished current University City. |
