| Sumario: | Archaeological investigations carried out in the pre-cordilleran area, in Los Hornillos historical mining site, allowed to analyze the chronologies of use of the structures and changes in the architecture. The findings of surface materials and the stratigraphy were taken into account in order to develop hypotheses on the occupation timing and the way of use of mineral resources in the regional history. In this article we present the theoretical approach, the results of the excavations and the preliminary characteristics on the contexts.
