Sumario:Classic culture, especially Greek, has quite often attracted Mendocinian writers (either Mendocinian born or adopted). In this context, the present work first explores the Hellenic epic aspects and then analyses pre-columbine American culture, in the characters' treatment, divine intervention, events, space and time in Los días del Venado. This book has been recognized with the first prize of "El Libro" Foundation, as the 2000 best junior publication. Hypothesis: Two ancestral sides in tension are concentrated in Los días del Venado: the Hellenic and the indigenous Americanist. The latter predominates as an ideological position in the narrated story. Method: analysis of documental source content, without a priori fixed categories. Consequently, a qualitative and phenomenological study predominates in the methodology. Results: contribution to a reflexive double via reading ofthe novel: The Hellenie heritage (in faet, Hellene is the name of Misáianes vassals that invade Fertile Lands) adding an important Amerieanist cosmovision -especially Mayan and Araueanian- notably differing from Euroeentrie qualities of a J R. R. Tolkien adventure.
