Descripción
Sumario:500 years after the discovery of America, the Board of Andalucía (Córdoba, Sevilla, Cádiz and Málaga Universities), decides to contact Argentine Universities (Tucumán, Jujuy, Santiago del Estero, La Rioja; San Juan and Mendoza) to work issues from the Argentine Andean Region, populated by Spaniards from the XVI century. The National University of Cuyo integrates the team conducted by the National University of Tucumán to carry out the program “Inventory of Resources and Facilities for the Regional Administration and Planning of the Argentine Andean Region”, which consists of subprojects approaching agricultural-livestock and industrial activities, settlement systems and territorial and population organization. CIFOT has the responsibility of analyzing the productive structure evolution of Cuyo, a region that fulfils an important socioeconomic role during its dependence from the General Captaincy of Chile, the one that subsequently falls into decline when included in the River Plate Viceroyalty (1756) and then into a marginal position from Buenos Aires’s centralism.
