Sumario:Anthropologyas a science has been éonsidered a product ol European colonialism. In this sense, it has a common ground with travel literature, and it can even be seen as its stem closest to natural sciences. It has played a fundamental role in the conformation of its research program which can also be understood as the application of evolutionist theories of history to human culture- travelliterature, which has a referential vocation and insists on the description of human and geographical diversity. This paper aims at distinguishing between both fields, the literary and the more clearly anthropologic one; considering some texts by Alexander von Humboldt, trayeler and author al texts which can be seen as part of travel literature.
