| Sumario: | For cutting ants, baits formulations are preferred, since it is the cheapest and easiest way to apply for outdoor conditions. During the development of natural products for cutting ants, citric extracts were examinated in order to perform as baits, for Acromyrmex lundi workers. They were gathered two tests: in laboratory and outdoors conditions. Filtre papers were wet with extracts obtained from: sweet orange, pink pummelo, mandarine orange and bitter orange, and then offered to the workers. The design was RB (random blocks), with free choice. They were recorded: the time last to collect the first disc, and the number of remainder discs. At the lab, within an artificial nest, they were offered 20 discs for every treatment. Outdoors, every block was an individual nest, and they were disposed 10 discs for every treatment, on worker's roads.
The mandarine orange extract was that preferred in lab assay, according to the Tukey test. On the other hand, outdoors, pummelo was preferred. Then, for A. lundi, a cutting ant in dycotiledons plants, is reported a preference behavior for different citric species, but there was a dissimilar reaction for lab and outdoor trials. |
