Associated with this fact and its immediate consequences, a narrative is born, which is sometimes disappointing in tone and critical in spirit. This narrative places in the center of its meditations the relationship between past and present, Africa and Europe, the possibility of a personal identity as opposed to the stereotype wrought and propitiated by the foreigner. This can be appreciated -for example- in the novels of the senegalese author Ken Bugul. The objective of this work is to present an authoress of big importance in its way but still unknown in our country, highlighting her particular vision of a European continent in crisis that reveals so much about others as of herself. To deal with this topic the contributions of postcolonial studies become pertinent as well as those of her autobiographical literature. I start from the reading and analysis of three autobiographical novels of the authoress, the contrast with her own declarations and the review of the general criticism of African French-speaking literature and of Ken Bugul’s literature. La literatura africana en lengua francesa tiene un importante desarrollo a partir de los ‘60 del XX; esto es, el momento de las independencias de las colonias europeas. Asociada con este hecho y con sus consecuencias inmediatas, nace una narrativa de tono a veces desencantado y espíritu crítico que pone en el centro de sus meditaciones la relación entre pasado y presente, África y Europa, la posibilidad de una identidad propia frente al estereotipo forjado y propiciado por el extranjero; es lo que puede apreciarse –por ejemplo- en las novelas de la senegalesa Ken Bugul. El objetivo del presente trabajo es presentar a una autora de gran importancia en su medio aunque aún desconocida en nuestro país, a fin de destacar su particular visión de una Europa en crisis que la lleva a reflexionar tanto acerca de los Otros como de ella misma. Para el abordaje del tema se vuelven pertinentes los aportes de los estudios poscoloniales y los de la literatura autobiográfica. Parto de la lectura y análisis de las tres primeras novelas de la autora, el cotejo con declaraciones propias y la revisión de crítica general sobre literatura africana francófona y específica sobre la misma Ken Bugul. |
