Sumario: | The book Bahia: Imagens da Terra e do Povo, written by Odorico Tavares and illustrated with drawings of Carybé was published in 1951. Later, in 1977, Bahia de Todos os Santos, a book of Jorge Amado, will be published with drawings by Carlos Bastos, which replaced those that appeared in the first edition of the same book, in 1945, that had drawings by Manuel Martins. In this paper we will analyze the relationship between both books and their drawings, which in both cases they build and disseminate the Bahia’s imaginary, through the exaltation of popular culture, traditions and religion of Candomblé, applying artistic ideas that come from the new creativity avant-garde. |
