| Sumario: | Rural women are key agents for achieving the economic, environmental and social changes needed aiming at sustainability, but the identification of the feminine with nature and the emotional, as opposed to the cultural hegemonic and rational, is the key that opens the door to false western legitimacy for women's control and subordination. The objective of this article is to demonstrate, through various women experiences, in Nova Friburgo municipality, mountainous region of the Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil, after an extreme climatic event in January 2011, the strong female protagonism, which was decisive in accessing public policies for the development of agroecological proposals and strengthening organizational actions. |
