The story has a moralizing, playful and burlesque intention, apart from the drama. Therefore, it is a satire. The protagonist is a professor who long time ago did his doctorate in London, following a process that exposed him to multiple pressures and humiliations. Back in his homeland, he is convinced that it is his turn to do with others what they did with him, (an unfortunately common criterion). His aim is to discriminate against those who do not match the European profile that he wrongly believed he had introjected. Clad in his nineteenth-century attire, a devout reflection of his father and grandfather images, (the same who initiated him in the ritual of humiliations), that day he prepares as a synodal for a thesis defense of a student whose image, social class and presence unleashes all resentment and rejection that he accumulated throughout his life. We assume that the candidate will not pass the test under the archaic standards that the professor will finally apply on him. Este cuento es una composición literaria en la que se intenta criticar agudamente las costumbres y vicios de muchos profesores y profesoras que en una planta académica avejentada proliferan haciendo inconmensurable daño a los que pasan por sus manos. El cuento tiene una intención moralizadora, lúdica y más que nada, burlesca, aparte de lo dramático. Es decir, se trata de una sátira. El protagonista es un profesor que alguna vez hizo en Londres su doctorado, siguiendo un proceso que lo expuso a múltiples presiones y humillaciones. Ya en su patria tiene la convicción que es su turno para hacer con otros lo que hicieron con él, (un criterio lamentablemente muy común) discriminar a los que no coinciden con el perfil británico que el protagonista creyó haber introyectado. Enfundado en su atuendo decimonónico, reflejo devoto de la imagen de su padre y abuelo, (los mismos que lo iniciaron en el ritual de las humillaciones), ese día se prepara como sinodal de una defensa de tesis de un alumno cuya imagen, clase social y presencia desencadena en él, el resentimiento y rechazo que ha acumulado a lo largo de su vida. Suponemos que dicho candidato no pasará la prueba con los arcaicos estándares que este profesor aplicará.
