Sumario:In recent decades, the school has gone from being the evaluating institution to becoming the object of evaluation. The so-called "school massification" process, in which the number of students, teachers and educational establishments increased, put the discussion of new school issues on the agenda, as well as generated a shift in the focus of educational policies towards quality evaluation. This institution, which is now "under suspicion", inspired the title of Emilio Tenti Fanfani's book in which, based on this diagnosis, he proposed to generate a sociological contribution to think about the particularities of the problems that characterize the school system in high and medium development societies in Argentina and Latin America.
