Sumario: | Tensions between Neoplatonic assumptions and Aristotelian ideas are a common feature in Grosseteste’s work. This article attempts to show how the notion of science in his commentary on Posterior Analytics reflects these tensions in several of his doctrines, laying the theoretical foundations for the elaboration of a theological conception of metaphysics. In its strictest sense, the notion of science seems to suppose that its object is intimately linked to divine exemplars. We will try to verify this from a passage that proposes a foundation of the incorruptibility of the universals that are the object of the demonstrations.
