Description
Summary:This article inquires into the transgressive, deconstructive, and fertile relationship between a relevant part of Postmodern narrative and Modern literary genres. Paying special attention to the genre hybridization practiced by this type of narrative"”whose main ancestor is Jorge Luis Borges"”it analyses the peculiar rewriting of popular and major genres performed by it, which is a simultaneous tribute and per-version of them. It also examines the way in which heterogeneous discourses are interwoven. Then, it specifically inquires into a genre which has acquired especial relevance during the last 20 years in Latin America: microfiction, confronting it with Nineteenth century prose poem and with the Barthesian concept of "text". Finally, it also inquires into autofiction, as a peculiar type of "self writing" (écriture du moi), which reached increasing importance during Postmodernism.
