| Sumario: | This article presents a reflection on motherhood as an artistic subject and examine its presence or absence in the discourse of contemporary culture and we consider the materialization of this discourse in the works of women artists. The proposal is reading several works belonging both artistic disciplines, painting and literature, separated approximately by a century that goes from the pictorial surrealism to the current literature.
