Sumario:This text deals with the question of how language was a vehicle of identity construction or the reflection of a feeling of membership owned by the colonists who founded and mainteined Mendoza city during its perifundacional period, through a linguistic study of the town hall documents. The aim of this paper is to recover cultural standards from the pastover the lexicón available, considering that if we focus in an specific cultural parameter a more specific and diversedlexicónaraises. Deepening previous investigations, it is considered posible to enlarge the repertoire focusing the analysis in aspects of minor conceptual extension. Considering the head components of identity, wich are the pressence of inhabited space, uniformity of ideals, feeling of belonging to save convictions and shared history, the question is how and when mendocinian identity was built. The analysis of lexical particularities is base donmethodologycal procedures of the historic and cognitive sociolinguistics. The object of the analysis are the Mendoza’s town hall documents, wich are the only remaining public documents available. The purpose of this paper is to acquire a widen understanding of Spanish language in such a distant place from Ibericpenínsula in times when the langauge experienced its last phonological adjustment.
