Sumario:El Instituto de Historia Universal (Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad Nacional de Cuyo) was founded in 1992 and has played a fundamental role in research and knowledge in the field of Universal History. Since its inception, research has been one of the pillars of the institution and the IHU journal. On the other hand, la revista de Historia Universal, first published in 1988, has historically addressed topics related to Universal History. As the purpose of the journal, we can summarize that it seeks to promote the dissemination, theoretical exchange, and constant review of articles and research advances related to Universal History and related disciplines. The objective of this article is to describe the history, trajectory, and current state of the IHU and its journal. To achieve this, all issues of the journal (from No. 1 to 26) were reviewed, excluding reviews and potential news sections, and an index of each publication was created. In future work, a thematic index can be conducted to analyze the most covered topics, author affiliation, and the scope of the journal. Additionally, an analysis of the ordinances related to the IHU was carried out. Lastly, the article is complemented with interviews conducted with former and current directors of the journal and the IHU.The history of the IHU demonstrates its commitment to educating professionals and researchers, promoting the integration of research and teaching. Through its Journal of Universal History, it has disseminated research and fostered investigation in this field. Despite technical challenges and the pursuit of greater visibility in the academic sphere, the IHU has maintained its dedication to quality and the dissemination of knowledge.
