| Sumario: | With the intention of contributing to knowledge about the vulnerability of environmental policy in Mexico and within the framework of the neoliberal model, a brief review is made of the main international events and works that led to the formation of the legal and institutional framework with interference in environmental issues in Mexico. Likewise, an analysis is made of the main instruments of Ecological Planning resulting from the institutionalization of environmental planning in the country, taking the Sierra de las Cruces as an area of "‹"‹study, an ecosystem surrounded by three major metropolitan areas: Mexico City, Toluca and Cuernavaca. . In this way, its antecedents, its territorial scale, its legal status and the most relevant results derived from the decrees of its different Ecological Regulations are described, while updated and accurate information is presented, which is useful for the competent institutions in environmental matters.
