Sumario:The article analyse the question of the "security" of the houses in a popular neighbourhood of Mar del Plata. During 2019, the national state assigned a group of gendarmes to the areas classified as "dangerous" and "unsafe" in the city and in which Nuevo Golf was selected for the deployment of one of the garrisons of the security force. How did the presence of the Gendarmerie impact the neighborhood? How is it managed and what "security practices" are established? What effects does it produce on domesticity? Through an ethnographic fieldwork carried out between 2017 and early 2020, I analyse different tasks that emerge as safety practices in the population. The proposal hold to the "uphold the household" against possible eviction events as a daily task that is constituted as part of domestic and care work. Mainly women carry this out, and they are fundamental to guarantee the sustainability of life and the house. In this way, the socioeconomic context and state policies that tend to reinforce urban fragmentation, complement and intersect with a deepening of gender inequalities.
