Sumario:The present work analyzes the novels Conjunto vacío, by Verónica Gerber Bicecci, and Los eufemismos, by Ana Negri, writers born in Mexico in the 1980s after the exile of their Argentine parents due to state terrorism. Framed by the series of the voices of children of the seventies’ militant generation, both authors expose how the effects of forced migration continue to operate in the present of their mothers as well as in their own lives, since the communication with them—and with their past—is almost always a fruitless task. Although these novels address one of the most significant ties of the genre, such as the mother-daughter relationship, we argue that, read in light of the concept of “inherited exile” (Lojo, 2010), both narratives account for the subjective difficulties that still affect the survivors of the last military dictatorship, and we show some of the ways in which this affects their daughters, even when they were born safe, in a host territory.
