| Sumario: | The main purpose of this work is to clarify how the philosopher Blaise Pascal composes the theme of the three orders of things – body, spirit and heart – in fragments 308 and 933 of his work Pensées. My hypothesis is that there is a very strong influence from the readings of the books Discurso da reforma do homem interior, from Cornelius Jansenius, and Discurso do Método, from René Descartes. Therefore, in order to achieve my goal, I propose the following itinerary: to present the art of detecting vanities in Jansenius’ thought and the stages of the Cartesian method, in order to present the influence of these works in the thought of Blaise Pascal. |
