I11-R98article-63542023-07-27T10:50:46Z The plundered rurality:: violence against women during the pandemic in Santiago del Estero, Argentina La ruralidad expoliada:: violencia contra las mujeres durante la pandemia en Santiago del Estero, Argentina de León Lascano, Maria Soledad Isac, Rosa Alejandra Pereyra, Horacio Violencias Extractivismo Covid-19 Violence Extractivism Covid-19 In this paper, we analyze, from a feminist and decolonial perspective, patriarchal and extractivist violence against rural women in times of pandemic, in a province in northwestern Argentina. The study period covered from the beginning of Social, Preventive and Compulsory Isolation from Presidential Decree No. 297 of March 19, 2020 until the end of December 2021. The methodological strategy was based on a qualitative approach which included interviews, field work in situ, and analysis of newspaper news, reports from state institutions and international organizations, and an instrumental case study. In the analyzed period, despite the mandatory isolation measures, the advance of the state-business front in the peasant and indigenous territories of the province for the development of soybeans and livestock production, has resulted in a process of expropriation in many ways and an increase in violence against women.
