Sumario:Health as fundamental right of every person, has a special connotation when the person has a disability. The term describes a restriction or disability absence, due to a deficiency of the ability to perform an activity in the manner or within the range considered normal for a human being. If we refer specifically to oral health, we can say that present high incidence of diseases and therefore constitute a risk group with a great need for dental care. Importantly, many of the people with disabilities, can not express in words or clearly determine their disease process and thus tolerate significant pain demonstrated by increased irritability, inactivity, loss of appetite, sleep problems, the self-harm. This lack of certainty and adverse family situation generates a disruption of daily life and bewilderment also begin a series of visits to a psychiatrist, otolaryngologist, neurologist, clinical. This situation can be expected through: dental checks, early referral to oral exams by physicians and/or other treating specialists interconsultation dentist to changes in behavior or selfharm. Prevention and dental health care for patients with disabilities help to maintain general health and provide a higher quality of life. The intervention of the dentist in installed conditions and involves the removal of symptoms, detention and treatment of injuries, restoration of function and aesthetics.
