Descripción
Sumario:Minotauroamor, Abelardo Arias’ favorite work, is a novel organized into two planes. This structure is clearly marked at the typo- 68 SUSANAAGUIRRE graphic level: most of the work is written using regular types, while some paragraphs are in italics. These paragraphs, precisely, are apparently separate from the main narrative and tell a different story, with different characters, actions, and setting in time and place. For many years, readers tended to ignore this second story, as the main text seemed perfectly readable without it. Yet, this reading impoverishes the novel. That is why this paper aims at showing, through the analysis of traits which join and differentiate both parts, that the total meaning is much more than the sum of each section and, evidently, much more than the meaning of an individual part.
