Sumario:About 3 billion people in the world and one million in Argentina use biomass as a cooking fuel. Its combustion is harmful to people’s health and to the environment. Institutional programs are implemented to provide vulnerable people with safe and efficient cooking systems. This paper seeks to present a series of experiences which could represent a model to formulate public policies. The experiencies have been identified through international literature review. The goals, strategies and scope of international, regional and national programs seeking to provide efficient cooking systems have been analysed. These programs also contribute to people’s well-being, to socio-economic development and to climate change mitigation.
