Around 1621, Lope de Vega hoped to become the royal correspondent (although in September of this year his aspirations vanished when Francisco Rioja was appointed). This position did not only represent the possibility to access to an honorable and recognized job, but it also implied freedom from the economic dependency on the noble on call. The Filomena would be the means for our author to start, once again, a transformation of his autofiguración as a writer. Now, it was the turn of the educated but modest poet that was able to give answers to his envious detractors as Torres de Rámila, author of the Spongia, and the followers of the new poetry of Luis de Góngora. In the different subgenres present in this work, a series of rhetorical operations that seek to configure this new writing identity are carried out. In this research, we will look over some of the strategies carried out in the fictional configurations developed and in the selection and ordering of the selected texts for this new phase. |
