| Sumario: | In this article, we report the results of zooarchaeological and taphonomic analyses carried out on a collection of faunal bone remains that was collected in the 1990s. It is from archaeological sites in the Copacabana river basin, in Córdoba, Argentina. This collection, which includes fauna from the sites Cachipuri, Cementerio, San Antonio and El Ranchito, is curated in the heritage archive of the Museum of Anthropology, National University of Córdoba. The zooarchaeological analysis was performed to make taxonomic and anatomical identification of the faunal remains, as well as assess the impact of taphonomy and human processes. Mostly large- and medium-sized artiodactyls were identified, whereas birds were found in very low proportions, indicating a steady consumption of these animals and similar dietary practices in all four sites. This re-analysis makes it possible to explore the processes taking place in the history of this archaeological collection. |
