Descripción
Sumario:The publication of the novel El visitante (1984), by Alma Maritano, marks the entrance of literature for young people into Argentinian high school, but also establishes the beginning of a literary genre continuing until now: school fictions, stories for young people, explicitly aimed to be read in classrooms, which fictionalize the school environment. This article proposes to analyse the general characteristics of school fictions and, in particular, the characteristics of three of the novels that make up the saga written by Maritano: El visitante (1984), Vaqueros y trenzas (1986) y En el sur (1988). Specifically, we examine the chronotope, the school image and the fictional devices to mould the practice of teaching literature at the beginning of the Post-dictatorship period.
