Sumario:What’s left of school? The elementary school experience leaves traces that are delayed and narrated later. These traces show what has affected and resulted significant in childhood time. Since narrative research and through open interviews we wanted to recover and analyse what adults remember from that time. We synthesize the results of the fieldwork that put discipline, fear and respect as the topics of greatest recurrence and intensity, as well as the meanings given to these memories. We finally rehearse what is forgotten or silenced. The reflection to which the article invites emphasizes the effects that the school and adults produce in an imperceptible or little noticeable way, in the lives of those who inhabit them.
