Sumario:The main objective of this paper is to investigate and deepen the possibilities of development of the Sociology of Childhood as a space in recent emergence at a global level from Latin America as a specific space for the production of knowledge. In this way, an attempt will be made to recognize, in broad strokes, the epistemological challenges and obstacles involved in the study of childhoods configured in the global south, by means of Sousa Santos' (2006) proposal. At the same time, we will consider the fact that this academic vacancy derived from the recent emergence of this discipline could represent an opening to the possibility of developing, from the roots, a sociology from and for childhoods in Latin America.
