Sumario:Effect of netting for hail protection on harvest and postharvest fruit quality of Angeleno plums (Prunus salicina Lindl.). This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of neeting for hail protection on harvest and postharvest fruit quality of Angeleno plums. Fruits from trees of both with and without netting orchards were picked at two harvest dates. Fruit quality evaluations were made at harvest, after 45 and 60 days of cold storage (0 °C & RH = 85 %) and after 3 days at 20 °C as ripening period. Quality parameters determined were: weight, size, skin color, flesh firmness, solid soluble content (SSC), pH, titratable acidity (TA), SSC/TA ratio, dehydration and physiological disorders (mealiness). A factorial analysis was made, being the factors netting for hail protection (NP), harvest date(HD) and cold storage period (SP). The factors NP and HD had a significant influence on weight, size, skin color, flesh firmness, SSC, TA, SSC/TA at harvest. After ripening SP, HD and SP factors had a significant effect on mean flesh firmness, TA and SSC/TA. Harvest date and cold storage period had influenced on mealiness after the ripening period.
